What next for Iran's Supreme Leader?
Iran's supreme leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, in his secret hideout these days, knows he is now a marked man. He will not be sitting on his veranda anytime soon. When discussing what the United States might do next to help the protesters in Iran, US President Trump has mentioned Qassem Soleimani and Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi. The former, Iran's all-important military strategist in the Middle East, was killed on 3 January 2020 in a drone strike just outside Baghdad's international airport on the president's order. The latter, who was the leader of IS, killed himself and two children by detonating a suicide vest on 27 October 2019 when US forces raided his hideout in northern Syria after the approval of the president.

Learning to Refine with Fine-Grained Natural Language Feedback
Wadhwa, Manya, Zhao, Xinyu, Li, Junyi Jessy, Durrett, Greg
Recent work has explored the capability of large language models (LLMs) to identify and correct errors in LLM-generated responses. These refinement approaches frequently evaluate what sizes of models are able to do refinement for what problems, but less attention is paid to what effective feedback for refinement looks like. In this work, we propose looking at refinement with feedback as a composition of three distinct LLM competencies: (1) identification of bad generations; (2) fine-grained natural language feedback generation; (3) refining with fine-grained feedback. The first step can be implemented with a high-performing discriminative model and steps 2 and 3 can be implemented either via prompted or fine-tuned LLMs. A key property of this approach is that the step 2 critique model can give fine-grained feedback about errors, made possible by offloading the discrimination to a separate model in step 1. We show that models of different capabilities benefit from refining with this approach on the task of improving factual consistency of document grounded summaries. Overall, our proposed method consistently outperforms existing end-to-end refinement approaches and current trained models not fine-tuned for factuality critiquing.

Israel pushes for new sanctions on Iran, urges countries to declare Revolutionary Guard a terror group
Rep. Randy Weber, R-Texas, joined'Fox & Friends First' to discuss the latest on what's expected with Israel's response as House lawmakers are expected to weigh several foreign aid bills this week. Israel's foreign minister on Tuesday said he is calling for additional sanctions on Iran in response to the missile and drone attack that targeted Israel over the weekend. Foreign Minister Israel Katz said he sent letters to 32 countries urging them to impose new sanctions on the Iranian missile project and declare the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) a terrorist organization. "Alongside the military response to the firing of the missiles and the UAVs, I am leading a diplomatic offensive against Iran," Katz posted on X. He said additional sanctions would "stop and weaken Iran."

Iran vows to 'decisively respond' to any US attacks: 'No threat will be left unanswered'
Iranian officials warned that Tehran would decisively respond to any U.S. attacks, as President Biden vowed unspecified action following the deaths of three American soldiers in Jordan. "We hear threats coming from American officials, we tell them that they have already tested us, and we now know one another, no threat will be left unanswered," Iranian Revolutionary Guards' chief Hossein Salami said on Wednesday, Reuters reported, citing the semi-official Tasnim news agency. "We are not after war, but we have no fear of war," Salami, who answers only to Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, said at an event Wednesday, according to the state-run IRNA news agency. Another warning came from Amir Saeid Iravani, Iran's ambassador to the United Nations in New York. Three armed drones intercepted and shot down near US base in northern Iraq
Senior foreign affairs correspondent Greg Palkot provides details on the major strike on an Iraqi militia leader and the U.S.'s response to Houthi attacks in the Red Sea Three armed drones were shot down in Iraq on Tuesday, near where U.S. and other international forces are stationed, officials said. Iraqi Kurdistan's counter-terrorism service said its forces intercepted and shot down the drones over Erbil airport in northern Iraq at around 5:05 a.m. It did not say if there were any casualties or damage to infrastructure. There was no immediate claim of responsibility. Similar previous attacks have been claimed by a group called the Islamic Resistance in Iraq, an umbrella group of Iran-aligned Iraqi militias.

US Navy sails first drone boat through Strait of Hormuz between Iran, Oman
Fox News Flash top headlines are here. Check out what's clicking on Foxnews.com. The U.S. Navy sailed its first drone boat through the strategic Strait of Hormuz on Wednesday, a crucial waterway for global energy supplies where American sailors often faces tense encounters with Iranian forces. The trip by the L3 Harris Arabian Fox MAST-13, a 41-foot speedboat carrying sensors and cameras, drew the attention of Iran's Revolutionary Guard, but took place without incident, said Navy spokesman Cmdr. Two U.S. Coast Guard cutters, the USCGC Charles Moulthrope and USCGC John Scheuerman, accompanied the drone.

Iran Arms Russia in the War in Ukraine
In 2015, General Qassem Suleimani, the architect of Iran's foreign military strategy, travelled to Moscow to see President Vladimir Putin. He had a pitch--and a plea. During their two-hour meeting, Suleimani rolled out large maps of the battlefield in Syria, which was in the fifth year of a civil war with disparate rebel groups and had lost control of a third of its territory to ISIS jihadis. The stakes for Russia were high. For decades, Syria had been its only steadfast ally among the twenty-two Arab countries.

Iran claims responsibility for missile barrage near US consulate in Iraq
Fox News Flash top headlines are here. Check out what's clicking on Foxnews.com. Iran claimed responsibility Sunday for a missile barrage that struck near a sprawling U.S. consulate complex in the northern Iraqi city of Irbil, saying it was retaliation for an Israeli strike in Syria that killed two members of its Revolutionary Guard earlier this week. No injuries were reported in Sunday's attack on the city of Irbil, which marked a significant escalation between the U.S. and Iran. Hostility between the longtime foes has often played out in Iraq, whose government is allied with both countries.

This huge Chinese company is selling video surveillance systems to Iran
A Chinese company is selling its surveillance technology to Iran's Revolutionary Guard, police, and military, according to a new report by IPVM, a surveillance research group. The firm, called Tiandy, is one of the world's largest video surveillance companies, reporting almost $700 million in sales in 2020. The company sells cameras and accompanying AI-enabled software, including facial recognition technology, software that it claims can detect someone's race, and "smart" interrogation tables for use alongside "tiger chairs," which have been widely documented as a tool for torture. The report is a rare look into some specifics of China's strategic relationship with Iran and the ways in which the country disperses surveillance technology to other autocracies abroad. Tiandy's "ethnicity tracking" tool, which has been widely challenged by experts as both inaccurate and unethical, is believed to be one of several AI-based systems the Chinese government uses to repress the Uyghur minority group in the country's Xinjiang province, along with Huawei's face recognition software, emotion-detection AI technologies, and a host of others.
